Dean Of Agriculture

F. Duane Dailey Student Enrichment Fund

Friends and colleagues of Duane Dailey have established a permanently endowed fund at the University of Missouri in his honor. Duane was born on a farm in north Missouri and has always been an advocate for Missouri's farmers and the agriculture system. He graduated from MU's College of Agriculture in 1957 with a degree in agricultural journalism and an M.S. in extension education in 1965 telling the story of Missouri agriculture for the state's land-grant university ever since. He is highly respected as a journalist, photographer, editor, and teacher. Those with whom Duane has worked on news of Missouri agriculture call him one of the most dedicated professionals they have met and say he can analyze the most complex scientific and economic concepts and report them in simple, understandable ways. Even in retirement, his passion for Missouri agriculture comes through as he continues to report the stories important to farmers and producers. Awards will be given to students enrolled in agricultural journalism with first preference for students interested in production agriculture and/or agriculture policy. These funds will specifically be used to fund student travel expense to attend the North American Agricultural Journalists annual meeting as well as to attend a national professional society meeting of selected agricultural disciplines.
